Chesterton Wizard of Oz Festival

Born and raised in Hammond, this 24 year old former resident of Chesterton is now a professional performer based in San Diego, California. As a young man Jon was a fine athlete earning varsity letters in both Soccer, and Track. As a kid, Jon attended many Wizard of Oz festivals and helped out at his grandparents booth, Saylor Basket Place.

In San Diego, Jon encountered two circus performers who watched him walk across a bridge railing. They were impressed and encouraged him to pursue a career in the performing arts. Since then, Jon and his wife, Katie, both train under the expert eye of 8th generation circus master, Pietro Canestrelli at the Sophia Isadora Academy of Circus Arts. Jon specializes in juggling, handbalancing, fire manipulation, and the unsupported ladder.

Serving as both an instructor and a student, Jon is a relentless trainer and performer. A member of the Barcelona Juggling Club, he has performed at the Hard Rock Hotel, The House of Blues, Torrey Pines Grand Ball Room, Technomania, and The LindleyLopez Circus in San Diego. He has also performed at the Building of the Floats Rose Parade Parade Supporters Party, and at the University of Arizona Book festival, and auditioned for Americas got talent. Jon aspires to have his own show, and wants to open his own training facility where he can continue instructing individuals in the circus arts.
